Response to COVID-19

While the courts are operating on a limited basis as a result of COVID-19 there are still some things you can do.  The S.C. Bankruptcy court is still operating, however, many of the hearings are being handled by telephone.  In family court, the courts are still accepting filings but only hearing cases that are considered an emergency such as orders of protections.  This is a good time to consider options such as mediation to resolve your family court issues.  If you and the opposing party have reached an agreement on your legal matter, now is the time to get an agreement drafted so that when the courts reopen you can get a hearing on the uncontested docket.  Generally, uncontested hearings are scheduled much faster.
